Spalding, Rayshal RD

NBMC welcomed Rayshal Spalding, Registered Dietician to our team in June 2025. Rayshal is also a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist who can assist patients with clinical nutrition, bariatric care and diabetic education.

Rayshal attended the University of Idaho where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science/Dietetics. She specializes in diabetes and weight management and is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. She is also working toward becoming a Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management. She completed her clinical internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Ketchum, ID and has completed several community internships, including: Second Harvest, Food Matters Cooking Classes, The Boys and Girls Club in Coeur d’Alene, ID, The Hunger Coalition, WIC (various food banks). Rayshal is also a Certified Life Coach through the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and holds a Culinary Arts Certificate from Renton Technical College.

Rayshal is single and has a grown son. She enjoys exploring the great outdoors – she’s an avid stand-up paddleboarder, hiker, and wanderer. “Not all who wander are lost. Some of us wander to get lost and find ourselves in the most AMAZING places!” ~Rayshal

She is quoted as saying she’s always had a curious mind and an innate desire to help people, especially those who are underprivileged. She’s spent much of her career living and working in very remote parts of Alaska, most only accessible by plane or boat, or snowmachine (when the waters weren’t frozen). She’s traveled to many tiny villages throughout Alaska via “mini plane” (6-seater Cessna), delivering care and education to people in very isolated and harsh environments, some without electricity or running water. These experiences taught Rayshal that: people are resilient, anything is possible, and less is more. She enters every patient encounter with curiosity, rather than an agenda and tries to see the world through her patients eyes.
