Anticoagulation Clinic

Anticoagulation Clinic

The Anticoagulation Clinic provides education and monitoring services to people who have been prescribed a blood-thinning medication (e.g., Coumadin) after a heart procedure or irregularity. Our clinic is staffed by registered nurses with special training in managing anticoagulant therapy.

During visits to the Anticoagulation Clinic, a nurse takes a small sample of blood to determine how long it takes the patient’s blood to clot. Providers have provided guidelines which allow our nurse to make adjustments to medication doses based on the results of the test.
